We specialize in the growing of rare and endangered Cycads. We have two
growing facilities; the one nursery is at Brits near Pretoria, while the
other is in a warm sub-tropical environment situated near Tzaneen.
The Cycads are grown under ideal conditions and we take care that good
root development and leaf production is achieved.
Cycads are only sold once we are satisfied that the plants are visualy
perfect and able to withstand the rigours of being bare rooted , cleaned
, dipped and packed for export.
The nursery is owned and run by Steve and Lelani Trollip.
We have approximately 20 000 Cycads growing in our nurseries.
There are 50 different Species of Encephalartos being cultivated
by us.
Visitors
coming from parts of the world to South Africa where Cycads occur naturally, are
usually surprised at how rare and localized the plants are.
Africa has had a large history of climatic fluctuations and the relic
Cycad populations seen today, are held captive in tiny pockets where local
conditions allow them to survive and reproduce ,but not to escape to distant
areas, which at present time, may be much more favourable for Cycads.
